America Gives, and America Takes: Alien Cultures and Judicial Systems in Focus By George C. Udeozor

About the Author
George Udeozor is the unlikely author of this literary marvel which takes the reader on a breath-taking journey through the chilling nightmares of the darkness and evil that may lurk at the edges of the American Dream. Like most success-driven immigrants, the author, after a childhood plagued by civil war and economic hardship, worked his way through High School in Nigeria and College in the United States before launching a career in banking with Barclays Bank of California, Los Angeles. Although successful as a banker, the author could not resist the lure of profit and adventure in the International Business arena. His quick success as a Finance/Defense Consultant and marriage to his beautiful wife, a glamorous Medical Doctor gave the appearance of nothing less than the actualized American dream. In this book, the author tells the story of his plight from one nation to another and the struggles of political power intertwined with culture which appears to be at the base of each judicial system and those in its charge.

After Mandela: The Battle for the Soul of South Africa By Alec Russell
Books, Books & Games, LiteratureAfter Mandela: The Battle for the Soul of South Africa By Alec Russell
Seller: GrammyBooksWhen Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress declared victory over the bitter injustice of apartheid, some thought South Africa’s future was assured. But despite Mandela’s mission of reconciliation, rampant inequality remains; race relations are uneasy, violence is endemic and many in the ANC appear to have lost sight of the liberation ideals. With the election in 2009 of Jacob Zuma, a charismatic populist embroiled in scandal, uncertainty over the trajectory of the nation has only intensified.
South Africa now stands at a crossroads, and award-winning journalist Alec Russell draws on his deep knowledge of the country to tell us how it got there and to give us a compelling account, revised and updated for this edition, of the journey from Mandela to Zuma.

And After Many Days by Jowhor Ile
Seller: GrammyBooksDuring the rainy season of 1995, in the bustling town of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, one family’s life is disrupted by the sudden disappearance of seventeen-year-old Paul Utu, beloved brother and son. As they grapple with the sudden loss of their darling boy, they embark on a painful and moving journey of immense power which changes their lives forever and shatters the fragile ecosystem of their once ordered family. Ajie, the youngest sibling, is burdened with the guilt of having seen Paul last and convinced that his vanished brother was betrayed long ago. But his search for the truth uncovers hidden family secrets and reawakens old, long forgotten ghosts as rumours of police brutality, oil shortages, and frenzied student protests serve as a backdrop to his pursuit.
In a tale that moves seamlessly back and forth through time, Ajie relives a trip to the family’s ancestral village where, together, he and his family listen to the myths of how their people settled there, while the villagers argue over the mysterious Company, who found oil on their land and will do anything to guarantee support. As the story builds towards its stunning conclusion, it becomes clear that only once past and present come to a crossroads will Ajie and his family finally find the answers they have been searching for.
And After Many Days introduces Ile’s spellbinding ability to tightly weave together personal and political loss until, inevitably, the two threads become nearly indistinguishable. It is a masterful story of childhood, of the delicate, complex balance between the powerful and the powerless, and a searing portrait of a community as the old order gives way to the new.
