About the Book
I am descended from four major Yoruba royal families. Through my father, I am descended from Ajase-po royal family on the one part and Offa royal family on the other. Through my mother, from Ila Orangun and Ikirun royal families. Importantly, Ila was the Head of the Igbomina as Offa was the Head of the Ibolo. I have thus been blessed to have descended from four Yoruba dynasties.
Intuitively, I see myself as an avatar of a sort; embodying all the virtues and nuances of these royal bloods. Easily, this story of my life could carry the title: Alade Merin, but my journey through life has been inexplicably tied to several other factors that have overshadowed my royal beginnings. There is a slice of my life that is far more profound, or do I say, that has remained vivid as it flickers in my subconscious. A chance meeting with that great American poet, Robert Frost while doing my Ph.D in the U.K. and even earlier before, my encounter with his most prominent poem The Road Not Taken (as an undergraduate in the U.S.A.), which purportedly ponders on the choices we make, or refuse to make, as we wade through the seas of life, provided a veritable interpretation of my life. In this wise, this memoir is PATH OF DESTINY.
In this compelling and forthcoming account of his life, Professor Oyawoye demonstrates the values and principles – loyalty to his family, friends and community; a strict adherence to professional integrity and excellence – which have made him respected and highly admired among his peers, his immediate community and the nation at large.

Equiano’s travels Edited By Paul Edwards
Seller: GrammyBooksWidely admired for its vivid accounts of the slave trade, Olaudah Equiano’s autobiography — the first slave narrative to attract a significant readership — reveals many aspects of the eighteenth-century Western world through the experiences of one individual. The second edition reproduces the original London printing, supervised by Equiano in 1789. Robert J. Allison’s introduction, which places Equiano’s narrative in the context of the Atlantic slave trade, has been revised and updated to reflect the heated controversy surrounding Equiano’s birthplace, as well as the latest scholarship on Atlantic history and the history of slavery. Improved pedagogical features include contemporary illustrations with expanded captions and a map showing Equiano’s travels in greater detail. Helpful footnotes provide guidance throughout the eighteenth-century text, and a chronology and an up-to-date bibliography aid students in their study of this thought-provoking narrative.

Arrest the Music: Fela and His Rebel Acts and Politics
Seller: GrammyBooksA lively study of the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and a persuasive interpretation of the social context, instrumentation, lyrics, visual art, and people through which he produced his music. Arrest the Music! is a lively musical study of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, one of Africa’s most recognizable, popular, and controversial musicians. The flamboyant originator of the “Afrobeat” sound and self-proclaimed voice of the voiceless, Fela used music, sharp-tongued lyrics, and derisive humor to challenge the shortcomings of Nigerian and postcolonial African states. Looking at the social context, instrumentation, lyrics, visual art, people, and organizations through which Fela produced his music, Tejumola Olaniyan offers a wider, more suggestive perspective on Fela and his impact on listeners in all parts of the world.
