TITLE: VARIANT
SIZE: 183CM X 66CM
MEDIUM: BRONZE
$805.00
This work is a relief sculpture, and it is titled variant based on the various mediums explored and it’s distinct form and meaning.
It is a stylized figure that shows the trials of a strong woman, while it also compliments her beauty. It is an embodiment of my perceptions.
The can of water supported by her hands in a weightless manner lays emphasis on strength and endurance, her stylized figure exudes grace, while the burnt patterns on her right hand and crossed right leg symbolizes the scars of her trials in life.
A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water_ Eleanor Roosevelt.
This piece is textured with sawdust, and it is held in place to the metal with layers of brown gloss paint.
In the process of getting this piece done, I got influenced by the multiple colors of the rubiks 3D cube which i added through the use of acrylic, this relates the life of women to the Rubik’s cube as a puzzle that is brain tasking. Something beyond the surface.
This work is a piece from my ongoing body of works titled hustle.

You Know You Are African When…(Game)
Seller: Kulture GamesThe game of African stereotypes and reactions.
How many times have you been asked if you speak African? How many times have you rolled your eyes when the insect in the “feed children in Africa” commercial appears? Or when a friend who has never left the continent has a British accent?
What is the first thing that you think of when you hear these words: African parents, African nurses, a black cat, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt? We all use stereotypes, even without knowing it. This is a really fun game on the stories and experiences of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora.
In the box: 50 Question cards, 270 Answer cards and a game guide.
It’s a pretty straightforward game. Each round, a rotating dictator (decision maker) reads a Question card and citizens (players) answer with the best fitting or funniest Answer card in
their hand. The dictator reads the Answer cards aloud and decides who wins each round. A new round starts, and a new dictator takes over.**A literacy book will be gifted to a child in an underserved African community when you buy a game. #LaughingForLiteracy Ages 16 and up.

Africa and Its Diaspora: History, Identities and Economy By Samuel Oloruntoba
Books, Books & Games, Politics & DevelopmentAfrica and Its Diaspora: History, Identities and Economy By Samuel Oloruntoba
Seller: GrammyBooksThis book provides important aspects of African diasporic experiences, covering the mass movement of Africans to Asia, Europe, and United States of America, the resistance to the epistemic violence caused by slavery and slave revolts, and the survival of African culture in the Diaspora. The book also explores the role of arts in fostering development as well as the influence of slavery and religion on Africans. Given the contradictions that continue to define African experiences in the global capitalist system, the book offers some alternative points of departure. Samuel Ojo Oloruntoba is a Senior Lecturer and the Coordinator of the Research cluster on Innovation and Developmental Regionalism at the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute, University of South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa. He obtained his PhD in Political Science with specialization in International Political Economy of Trade from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, where he is a tenured Faculty member. Oloruntoba is the author of Regionalism and Integration in Africa: EU-ACP Economic Partnership Agreements and Euro-Nigeria Relations, and co-editor of Regenerating Africa: Bringing African Solutions to African Problems and the forthcoming Palgrave Handbook on African Politics, Governance and Development. Oloruntoba received the 2016 Wangari Maathai Award for Innovative Research Leadership at the University of Texas in Austin.
